more joy less shame

What a great cd. I must say it only has few songs but this cd is so great. Joyful Girl is such a great song, I love the peace and love mix! Such emotions into this cd just show themselves even more when the most amazing version of Both Hands comes in. Few women are as emotional in ther music as Ani. She has the freedom to be so, and she has to be an example. What a great cd, I leave all versions of Joyful Girl to sound and sound in my stereo, and mind travel to an amazing world. She has a unique guitar playing style that all of us guitar players envy. I'm a joyful guy when I listen to this cd.

I really love the original "Joyful girl" and it's not that I am an Ani purist in the sense everything needs to be album-versions-only. I liked the live versions and the "Danger and uncertainty" mix. I did not really care for the "Peace and love" mix because I felt that it just took a really lovely song and added nothing beneficial to it. The "Danger" mix is different in the sense it is clever. Orginality gets bonus points. I didn't really like the "Shameless" mix. The original is superior and the "funked-up" track is more annoying that anything else. Certainly get Dilate and Not a Pretty Girl, as those have been amazing albums to be an aural witness to. This won't do much for a lot of people, but for some it will do just fine. Also (and this may just be me bitching) I think that it should have been an enhanced cd so we could see the "Joyful" video. Maybe then the artwork would make sense.

Four Amazingly unique versions of one of the best songs off the 1996 release Dilate. This is an amazing song and I was overjoyed that Ani included the funked up version of SHAMELESS and the super version of BOTH HANDS. I would honestly suggest getting Dilate and Living In Clip before getting this EP. Still, this is an amazing EP and well worth checking out...Another Gem from Mz Difranco.
