By the end of the second song, you'll be hooked. This debut self-produced album from Buffalo area singer and songwriter Ani DiFranco has that great an impact.
Ani (pronounced AH-nee) is a woman of a mere 20 years who has managed to put together 12 songs (of the more than 100 she's written) of such depth and understanding that you'll hardly believe that you're not listening to a much older performer with considerably more life experience under her belt. With thoughtful poetry at their base, the songs weave delicate yet powerful tales of the human condition and the things that at times louse it up.
This is the kind of music you wish they would play on the radio. The music is that infectious sort that you want to sing along with and you don't mind singing because the lyrics don't insult your intelligence.
